professional drummer, with a 1st class music BA (Hons), and with over ten years experience giving percussion workshops, Matt can provide the perfect day of music making excitement with a junk percussion workshop.
If you’ve seen the likes of West End hit shows Stomp or Blue Man Group, you will know what is possible with junk percussion. The rhythms created are magical and inspiring. What’s more they are accessible to everyone. No previous musical experience necessary.
GREAT FUN, RHYTHMIC EXCITEMENT AND LEARNING ROLLED INTO ONE WORKSHOP.
The participants will have a great day finding their inner drummer whilst composing their own pieces, improvising solos, and coming
together to play a group piece. Through numerous fun games and exercises, they will discover how to work together to create music that they never thought themselves capable of, leaving them thrilled, bubbling with confidence, a little more open to the possibilities of music……..and pleasantly exhausted after expelling all that energy!
The workshops can run as single hourly workshops with rotating groups of participants, or as a full day with four separate hourly
workshops with the same group, as they progress through a series of rhythm games and exercises to reach the end goal of creating a magical ensemble performance.
The workshops are totally inclusive to all abilities and age groups from age four up to adults.
They can run with just several participants or in groups of 30+.

MAKE YOUR OWN INSTRUMENT
An optional extra for younger groups is to precede the drumming with a ‘Make your own instruments’ session. Here the kids can have fun creating and decorating their own instruments, discovering the sound making properties of the objects and the most effective way to play them. They can then use that instrument to create music before taking it home as a memento.
As a school drum tutor, Matt regularly undergoes an enhanced CRB check and has £5+ million liability insurance.
