This double bass fill idea utilises two bass drums or a double bass pedal to create an easy but really effective heavy metal style drum fill.

Drummers in the metal genres, such as Mike Portnoy and Joey Jordison, use this type of fill very often and it sounds great. They usually play the double bass fill at blisteringly fast speeds so that it sounds much more complicated than it is.

When broken down slowly, you will find that it is often just small phrases between the hands playing single strokes, and then the feet playing single strokes. He we are playing two phrases of six and then a phrase of four to add up to sixteen 16th notes. We play these phrases between the hands and the feet.
