Here we are looking at a drum fill which aims to get you out of the rut where you’re always playing the same old drum fills. We often play in tidy little groups of four when we move around the drum kit. This is fine for most of what we do, but sometimes we may want a more interesting sound in our drum fills.
One way to create this interest is to move in less obvious phrases. This video looks at a seven note grouping which we can learn as a very easy and basic individual phrase.
We then have to work out how to put that together into a structured drum fill that we can use in our normal playing. This video breaks down and demonstrates two ideas that you can use.
